Little History about RAM
The very first RAM came into existence in the year 1947 with the use of williams tube. It make use of CRT( Cathode Ray tube), that are used as the faces of electrically charged spots. The another type of RAM is magnetic-core RAM which was also developed in the year 1947. RAM is the main component into the computer system which play very important role.

Types of RAM
There are mainly five types of ram;-
- Static RAM (SRAM)
- Dynamic RAM (DRAM)
- Synchronous Dynamic RAM (SDRAM)
- Single Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic RAM (SDR SDRAM)
- Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic RAM (DDR SDRAM, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4)
Use of RAM
Its a type of volatile memory which is used by a system temporarily. If computer shuts down abruptly then the data stored in it is erased.
What is DDR?
It stands for Double Data Rate.
Its an advancement in SDRAM( Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory).
Its a type of computer memory.
The DDR memory can send and receive signals twice per clock cycle.
Types of DDR's available in the market
DDR - 1998
DDR2 - 2003
DDR3 - 2007
DDR4 - 2014
DDR5 - 2020(Estimated)
Advancement
As the generations of ddr increased the rate of data transfer increases and the usage of voltage decreased. THE rate of frequency is increased as well.
voltage usage
DDR - 2.5V to 2.6 V
DDR2 - 1.8V
DDR3 - 1.5V to 1.35V
DDR4 - 1.2V to 1.05V
DDR5 - not introduced yet into the market.
